Right, totally. They're neutral qualities that are so often made to stand in for principled behavior, or act as a gatekeeper to the recognition of any kind of behavior as principled (which can be, of course, a silencing technique if what you're saying is inherently not nice). These days we've lost even the veneer of civility, but that's not to say that having it was ever the same as having moral leaders.
