breathedoutthat if I ever write a novel in the style of the 18th century gothic, the villain's name will be Lord Wetstocking. He will ply his dastardly wiles on the fair and virtuous (for some definition of virtuous) Misses Verity Warmfoot and Grace Cozytoes, and all my readers will despise him because wet socks are the literal worst.
