I'm really fond of my Yuletide story for this year! It gave me the chance to spend some time in run-down, pre-makeover 1989 Vegas (a great place to visit in your imagination so you don't have to in real life), with some of the GLOW characters that get criminally underdeveloped on the show, and in particular with Arthie and Yoyo, a canonical f/f couple of color whom I <3. If you haven't seen the show, I think this story is largely understandable to an outsider with the basic knowledge that for the past three years all the women have worked together on a wrestling show filmed out of the Vegas hotel/casino where they also live. Further historical shit, as always, in the footnotes. Thanks to
scintilla10 for the request, and to
greywash for the beta and for talking over the plot development with me from the hot tub in the motel where we were exiled during the fires—an experience also strangely resonant with the story at large.
Speaking of, you should also DEFINITELY read
greywash's Jeeves & Wooster story, C'est déjà gémir, Jeeves, because it is HILARIOUS.

"What are you talking about?" said Melrose. "They've been living together here for like two years."
"Well," Ruth said, "Yeah," as Arthie shifted in her seat. "But it's not the same, is it? We all share here; it's one of the perks of Riviera life. Like Whoppers with cheese, and an in-house laundromat."
